History

From humble beginnings to where Tee Yih Jia (TYJ) stands today, follow us down memory lane to see how TYJ’s story unfolded.

October 1969

Tee Yih Jia (TYJ) started off as a semi-mechanised factory in Kim Yan Road, supplying spring roll pastry for the domestic market.

1977

Our Executive Chairman, Mr. Sam Goi saw an opportunity to acquire TYJ.

1979

The Group established new Factory at 14 Little Road.

1985

Seeking to further increase production capacity, the Group opens its new factory at 5 Burn Road.

In the same year, we also received the National Productivity Council’s “National Productivity Award” and the “Business Times/DHL International Enterprise” Award.

1988

The Group acquires Main On Foods (USA) Corporation, in the USA, and Fujian Ming Wei Food Enterprise Co. Ltd in Fuqing, Fujian, China.

1989

TYJ wins the prestigious Monde Selection’s Gold Medal for spring roll pastry.

1995

We attained 26th position in the Enterprise 50 Awards during our inaugural participation.

1998

TYJ achieves HACCP certification from Singapore Productivity Board.

1999

The Group opens its new factory at 1 Senoko Road with a fully automated production line for Roti Paratha.

2000

After six consecutive years of participation, and achieving better ranking each year, we finally clinch the 1st position at the Enterprise 50 Awards.

 

2001

“Spring Home” brand achieves Superbrands status.

2004

Mr. Sam Goi was named “Entrepreneur of the Year” by Ernest & Young.

2005

TYJ and Tung Lok set up a joint venture, T & T Gourmet Cuisine Pte Ltd, to manufacture dim sum, mooncakes, Chinese New Year pastries and other delicacies.

2007

“Spring Home” brand wins Singapore Prestige Brand Award (Regional Brand).

2008

“Spring Home” and “Happy Belly” brands are endorsed by IE Singapore’s Tasty Singapore Programme.

2009

TYJ receives BRC Grade “A” certification for achieving Global Standard for Food Safety.

2013

Mr. Sam Goi is conferred Forbes Asia’s Top Philanthropists Award.

2014

Mr. Sam Goi wins the “Businessman of the Year” Award at the Singapore Business Award.

2015

Mr. Sam Goi was awarded "SG50 Outstanding Chinese Business Pioneers Award" by Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

2018

Mr. Sam Goi is conferred the "Distinguished Business Leader Award" at the World Chinese Economic Forum.
